(Specialty code: 085222 )

IIntroduction

Traffic and transportation engineering involves transportation infrastructure, transportation means, transportation management facilities, traffic participants and transport objects, transportation administration and other elements of modern transportation mode, and constitutes a complex engineering system, which plays an important role in maintaining and promoting the healthy development of society and economy.

The field of traffic and transportation engineering studies the various elements of transportation and their interrelationship; transportation system planning; infrastructure design, construction and maintenance; transportation organization and operation management; traffic information and traffic control. Professional research is an important means to ensure smooth and efficient transportation, and plays an important role in the training of Transportation Engineering professionals.

IIScope of professional

Traffic and transportation engineering belongs to engineering technology. In the classification of disciplines in China, it belongs to the first-level disciplines of transportation engineering. It covers three secondary disciplines: road and railway engineering, transportation planning and management, traffic information engineering and control. Road and railway engineering is one of the core of the traditional traffic and civil engineering specialty, which has the color of interdisciplinary with civil engineering specialty. The main fields cover the planning, survey, design, construction, operation, maintenance and management of transportation facilities such as railways, roads and airports. High-speed and heavy-haul railways, expressways, fast urban arteries and modern airports are the focus of this subject.

The main research directions are as follows:

1. Design and construction of high-grade roads and railways;

2. Design and control of road traffic system planning;

3. Rail transit integrated technology and traffic informatization;

4. Transportation operation management and organization optimization.
